Step back in time and experience life early life of Maine's Past.
Living History Days is the Maine Forest and Logging Museum’s signature event — and for good reason. This immersive weekend brings the museum to life with historical reenactors, traditional craftspeople, livestock demonstrations, and all the sights, sounds, and smells of a working 18th-century village.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just looking for a family-friendly fall outing, this event has something for everyone. Watch the up-and-down sawmill cut lumber, see the steam-powered Lombard log hauler in motion, and enjoy a variety of time-honored skills on display — from blacksmithing to cider pressing.
Event highlights include:
- Historical reenactors in period dress
- Working livestock and hands-on demonstrations
- Traditional food: fresh-pressed cider, bean hole beans, biscuits, and soup
- Steam-powered and rotary sawmills in operation
- 1910s-era Lombard log haulers running
Visitors can walk through the settler’s cabin, explore the blacksmith shop, and get a glimpse into the hard work and ingenuity that helped shape Maine’s forest history.
Come celebrate Maine’s past — and maybe even pick up a few old-time skills of your own!
Help Bring History to Life!
